Your Insured Deposits are Secure
We understand recent financial news may have you looking for more information about how Holston Methodist Federal Credit Union insures members’ deposits.
Holston Methodist Federal Credit Union's member deposits are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). The NCUA is the federal agency that charters and supervises federal credit unions and insures savings in federal and most state-chartered credit unions across the country through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), a federal fund backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government.
With the passage of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, member's deposits are now insured up to at least $250,000 and up to $250,000 for certain retirement accounts.
NOTICE OF CHANGE IN TEMPORARY NCUA INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS
All funds in a "noninterest-bearing transaction account" are insured in full by the National Credit Union Administration through December 31, 2012. This temporary unlimited coverage is in addition to, and separate from, the coverage of at least $250,000 available to members under the NCUA's general share insurance rules.
For more information about temporary NCUA insurance coverage of transaction accounts, visit www.ncua.gov.
It's important to note that not one penny of insured savings has ever been lost by a member of a federally insured credit union.
